OUR CHIEF INSTRUCTOR

Richard Rohrman Sensei is the chief instructor at Budo Kai and one of the school's founders. A full time professional Karate instructor, he has dedicated over 50 years to the study, practice, and teaching of the martial arts. Rohrman achieved his first black belt in 1976 at the age of seventeen. He currently holds the rank of Sandan in traditional Goju Ryu and Isshin Ryu Karate, as well as Kyoshi grade in an eclectic form of Goju Ryu. Rohrman has competed on the state and national levels of A.A.U. Karate competition, compiling an impressive list of victories. He has captured 7 A.A.U. State Karate Championships in Advanced Kata (forms) and Weapons Kata, and is a former member of the N.J. State Karate Team. A number of his students have gone on to win state, governor's cup, and national titles.
